Another new cast member in a dual-role has been revealed for Shadows House, an upcoming TV anime based on the Gothic supernatural manga about an enigmatic, aristocratic clan of shadow-people and the “living dolls” who act as their servants.
In Shadows House, voice actor Shino Shimoji plays the role of Shirley, a Shadow, and also Ramu, Shirley’s “living doll” attendant. Shirley is described as being very taciturn, such that she barely even communicates with Ramu, while Ramu is described as being not very good at talking to other people.
Serialized since 2018 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump, Shadows House is set in a mysterious, Western-style mansion populated by a clan of “Shadows” who imitate the trappings of human aristocracy. The Shadows have no faces of their own, so they are attended by “living dolls” who act as their caretakers. The story follows Emilyko, a living doll, and Kate Shadow, the Shadow whom Emilyko serves.
The Shadows House TV anime is directed by Kazuki Ohashi and features animation production by CloverWorks. Shadows House is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in April of 2021.
