Motoko Kumai Returns as The Voice of Chocolove in Shaman King Reboot Anime

Another familiar voice is confirmed to return. The official website for the upcoming reboot TV anime based on Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga announced today that Motoko Kumai (Syaoran Li in Cardcaptor Sakura) will  reprise her role as Chocolove McDonnell. As with many other main voice cast members, she voiced the character in the first TV anime in 2001-2002 as well. She is now 50.

Chocolove is a shaman from the United States with afro hair. He also wants to be the best comedian in the world. However, his jokes are hopelessly boring.

Comments from Motoko Kumai:

[Charm of the Shaman King series]

“A lot of fascinating characters from different nationalities, races, and religions are active and aim to become the Shaman King together through battles… This alone is already enough to make me fraught with great emotion.”

[Enthusiasm for playing the role of Chocolove]

“How to boost autoimmunity. Get a good night’s sleep. Eat a well-balanced diet. There are many things you can do to keep your body warm, but one thing that is very easy to do is…. Yes, smile! Making a smile! The love of Chocolove will save the earth!!!”

The new Shaman King TV anime is set to premiere on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in April 2021.
