Studio Khara announced this evening that the next Evangelion anime film will once again be postponed due to COVID-19 in Japan. Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time was scheduled to be released on January 23, but due to the “spread of infection”, Khara has decided to delay its release once again after previously delaying its original June 27 release. There’s no word on when the film will be released in Japan theaters at this point.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time was previously delayed due to the first State of Emergency leaving the film unfinished, but Khara confirmed in December that the film was 100% completed, and it has even been shown in full to the staff and key guests. Khara apologized to its fans for the inconvenience of the delay once again, but are taking both the coronavirus pandemic and the newly declared State of Emergency seriously.
The OST for the film has also been postponed from its February 10 release.
