Death Note Team’s Latest Work Platinum End Gets TV Anime Adaptation in Fall 2021



Platinum End, the latest manga work from the team of Tsugumi Ohba (original story) and Takeshi Obata (manga), who created DEATH NOTE and Bakuman., will be adapting into a TV anime on TBS in the fall of 2021. The dark fantasy manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square since November 2015 and has printed more than 4.5 million copies worldwide.


Hideya Takahashi (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) serves as the director, alongside the anime character designer Kouji Ohya (No Game No Life) and the series composition writer Shinichi Inozume (PERSONA5 the Animation). Signal-MD (Recovery of an MMO Junkie) works on anime production.


Along with the announcement, a teaser visual featuring the protagonist Mirai Kakehashi and the angel Nasse has been released. Mirai is holding a red arrow in the middle of the crowd and Nasse shines divinely, which create a sense of “foreignness in everyday life.”

Story introduction:


Mirai Kakehashi lost his family in an accident and had a hard time even with the relatives who took him in. Despairing of everything, he throws himself off the roof of a building on the day he graduates from junior high school. However, he meets an angel there…?
