The official website for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of the four-panel manga Azur Lane Bisoku Zensin! inspired by the internationally popular smartphone game Azur Lane has posted a 30-second new PV to announce its premiere date of January 11, 2021. The clip also features one of the anime’s two theme songs, “Longing for!” sung by Emi Nitta (Honoka Kousaka in Love Live!).
The game app Azur Lane developed by Shanghai Manjuu and Xiamen Yongshi started its service in Japan in September 2017 and has gained great popularity. In the winter of 2019, it had its 12-episode TV anime adaptation animated by Bibury Animation Studios.
Azur Lane Bisoku Zensin!, the official spin-off manga about the ship girls’ peaceful everyday life illustrated by Hori, has been serialized on the game’s official Twitter and Ichijinsha’s Manga Yonkoma Palette magazine since 2018. Masato Jinbo, known for his recent directorial work for Super HxEros, serves as the director of its TV anime adaptation at Yostar Pictures and studio CANDY BOX.
In addition, a preview video for “Longing for!” and another theme song “Mahiruiro Siesta” (Midday-Color Siesta) performed by Yui Sakakibara (Mary in Dies irae) is also now streamed. The CD single including both songs is scheduled to be released on February 3, 2021.
